Postdoctoral position in High Energy Astrophysics

Applications are invited for a 2 year postdoctoral position in the high energy astrophysics group of the APC laboratory in Paris. The position will be available in April 2017 with a negotiable starting date.

The APC laboratory is a leading institute in particle astrophysics and cosmology and its high energy group is involved in a wide range of multi-wavelength and multi-messenger experiments. In particular, the gamma-ray astronomy team has significant contributions to the H.E.S.S. array of Imaging Atmospheric Cherenkov Telescopes (IACTs), as well as to the CTA project which will become the major global ground- based observatory in the coming years.

The successful candidate will join the gamma-ray team to strengthen its activities in CTA. She/he is expected to participate in the design and development of analysis tools for CTA, which are to be tested and validated on H.E.S.S. data. In parallel, these tools should enable her/him to take part in the scientific activities of the team relating to very high energy phenomena in our Galaxy.

Candidates should hold a PhD in the field of high energy astrophysics. Data analysis experience in high energy astrophysics (IACTs, Fermi-LAT and X-rays) and programming skills (in particular with Python), as well as knowledge in very high energy galactic science will be valued.

A curriculum vitae, the list of publications, a brief description of research interests and two letters of reference should be sent before Wednesday March 1st 2017 to Dr. Arache Djannati-Ataï (djannatiatin2p3.fr). Applications will be considered until the position is filled.
