The LHCb detector has officially ceased to take data in December  2018, 8 years after its first run.  During that period, the collaboration has marked a few milestones ranging from the observation of pentaquarks to the several intriguing results, commonly called "the B physics anomalies", which could shed light on what lies beyond the Standard Model.
In this seminar I present an overview of the current status of flavour physics at LHCb, and the main prospects for Run 3 and beyond, in a physics landscape marked by Belle 2 and new-generation neutrino experiments.
